Vanquish Fat Reduction
What is the Vanquish Fat Reduction treatment?
Vanquish Fat Reduction is the latest breakthrough in non-invasive fat removal treatments. It is an FDA-approved, non-surgical, non-invasive technique that delivers Radio Frequency energy into
targeted areas of fat on the hips, back (love handles), thighs, and abdomen, without damaging surrounding skin or muscle tissues. By utilizing the Vanquish Fat Reduction technique, you will achieve a substantial reduction in excess fat buildup across your midsection and other areas over the course of 4-6 treatment sessions.
How does the Vanquish Fat Reduction treatment work?
During treatment, the stationary, no-touch Vanquish Fat Reduction device will be situated about 1-2 centimeters above your flanks and abdomen. You will lie comfortably while finely tuned Radio Frequency energy will then be directed into the targeted areas and absorbed only by pockets of fat cells, leaving surrounding skin and muscle tissues unharmed. This absorbed energy works to heat the targeted layers of fat, essentially causing fat cells to break down and die. The destroyed fat cells will then exit your body through natural processes.
What can I expect to feel during and after a treatment?
After the patient is positioned comfortably, the Vanquish Fat Reduction applicator is positioned over the abdomen and flanks as close to the skin as possible. This is a non-contact procedure; therefore, the device does not come into direct contact with the patient. Once the treatment begins, the device focuses energy on the fat cells. You may feel a warming sensation in the targeted area throughout your treatment, but little to no discomfort should result. Patient response and tuning of energy will be monitored throughout the treatment. For most patients, treatments are considered to be virtually pain free.
Following the procedure, you may experience a brief period of redness and/or tenderness, but most patients are able to resume normal activities almost immediately. These side effects last minutes or up to an hour post treatment.
Patients are encouraged to drink extra water before and after each treatment, as hydration aids the body’s natural lymphatic process to dispose of fat.
How many treatments will I need and how long is each one?
The recommended number of treatments is 4 sessions usually scheduled 7 to 10 days apart. Each treatment session lasts about 45 minutes.
Who will benefit most from Vanquish Fat Reduction treatments?
Vanquish Fat Reduction treatments are safe and effective for healthy men and women who want to contour problem areas of their abdomen/core and/or thighs. People who are thin and have little excess fat in the treatment area may have minimal change with treatment. Your measurements will change as inches of fat are removed but it is not intended as a form of weight loss.
Is the procedure safe?
Vanquish Fat Reduction is FDA approved and is the only non-contact device which allows for safe and effective body contouring to be achieved without touching the skin. During treatment, Vanquish Fat Reduction radio frequency energy heats the fat cells, causing them to spill their contents or be destroyed, in turn shrinking them and giving the treatment area a smoother appearance.
What areas of the body can be treated?
It is effective for areas such as the tummy, hips, and thighs. There are several applicators which can be utilized for your treatments, meaning the body contouring treatment will be tailored to your individual needs.
What happens to the fat cells?
Fat cells have lower conductivity than surrounding tissues such as skin and muscles. Vanquish Fat Reduction is able to selectively heat the fat cells to a therapeutic temperature while the surrounding tissue remains unaffected. The targeted and treated fat cells will die through the natural process known as apoptosis or “programmed cell death” then pass out of your body naturally.
How does this differ from other fat removal procedures?
With Liposuction, a “cannula” works to suction and remove fat through an incision in the skin. This technique removes all tissue it comes in contact with due to the sharp-edged port and high-impact suction process. The result is a recovery that is typically longer, with some post-operative pain, bruising and swelling likely.
Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) is an outpatient surgical procedure to remove excess skin and tighten the underlying musculature, resulting in a flatter, firmer, tighter stomach and a thinner waist. It requires an incision between the pubic hairline and navel. Following the surgery, a compression garment must be worn for an extended period to optimize results.
Vanquish Fat Reduction offers an excellent non-surgical option for patients who want to remove problematic areas of fat, but do not want the cost and recovery time involved with surgical procedures like Liposuction or a Tummy Tuck. Vanquish Fat Reduction is non-surgical and does not involve anesthesia, scalpels, or needles, and it is performed in the office.
What can I do to ensure the best results?
Research shows that radio frequency energy utilized during the Vanquish Fat Reduction procedure flows more efficiently through well-hydrated tissues. In order to facilitate the Vanquish Fat Reduction treatment process, it is important that you stay well-hydrated before, during, and after the procedure. This will also help your body to metabolize and dispose of the destroyed fat cells more quickly and effectively.
Are there other specific things I should be aware of?
Hydration status is important for your results. You should be well hydrated when you come in for your treatments. A good goal is to drink a gallon of water daily if possible during your treatment course.
It is also important that there is no metal in the area we are treating – such as from any prior surgery. Other metal or implanted devices that would preclude treatment include pacemakers, internal defibrillators, or any other metal implants. You will be asked to remove all jewelry during your treatment.
How can I learn more?
What is the cost and is financing available?
Vanquish Fat Reduction is a very affordable treatment, especially when compared to other procedures such as Liposuction or a Tummy Tuck. Please call our office at 479.274.6000 to discuss the cost and to schedule your consultation. Financing may be available through Care Credit.
What kind of results can I expect, and how long will the results last?
In the weeks after treatment with Vanquish Fat Reduction patients will notice a change to their body which in most cases is impressive and long-lasting. Results may vary from patient to patient depending on various circumstances. Maintaining a healthy weight and lifestyle will help ensure that the results remain indefinitely.
Diet and exercise are keys to weight loss and muscle tone. But sometimes, despite your best efforts, you are left with a stubborn “muffin top” that will not go away.
If you are close to your ideal shape, but need help tightening up your waistline and abdomen, Dr. Passmore offers a non-surgical treatment called Liposonix®. Liposonix® is high-intensity ultrasound energy delivered through the skin directly to fat cells. There are no needles, no skin damage, and the treated fat tissue is removed through the body’s natural healing and elimination process. On-average, a one-hour long treatment results in a one-inch reduction at the waist. It takes about 8 to 12 weeks to see optimal results. There is some discomfort involved with the treatment. At the pre-treatment consultation, Dr. Passmore discusses options for pre-medication to enhance your comfort during the procedure.
To be a candidate for Liposonix®, you must be able to “pinch-an-inch” of fat in the treatment area, have a BMI of equal to or less than 30, and be in good overall health.

Finish the job where exercise and dieting fail. Although no type of liposuction is a substitute for dieting and exercise, liposuction can remove stubborn areas of fat that do not respond to traditional weight loss methods
Very few men or women have what they would consider the perfect shape. Quite often the complaint is that some area of their body is too large.
Liposuction is an outpatient procedure that helps to re-contour or “sculpt” the body by removing unwanted localized deposits of fat from specific areas (i.e. abdomen, hips, thighs, knees, chin, and neck). Through a tiny incision, a narrow tube is inserted to the fat layer that lies deep beneath the skin. The fat cells are then broken apart and suctioned out. Depending on the size of the area and the amount of fat being removed, the time required to perform liposuction will vary.
Following liposuction, a compression garment must be worn for an extended period to optimize results. Most people return to work within the week following the procedure, although a feeling of soreness will be experienced for several weeks. Liposuction is not a replacement for diet and exercise, and it is not a means of weight loss, but it is a safe, effective way to improve problem areas of your body.

Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)
Smooth, flatten and flatten your tummy for a sexy, toned look! This major surgical procedure can dramatically reduce the appearance of a protruding abdomen giving your abdomen a more slender appearance.
A firm, flat stomach is desirable for both men and women. Age, weight fluctuations, pregnancy, and other factors can lead to relaxation of the abdominal muscles, and an excess collection of fat in the area.
The goal of Abdominoplasty is to remove excess skin and tighten the underlying musculature, resulting in a flatter, firmer, tighter stomach and a thinner waist as well. Following the procedure, a compression garment must be worn for an extended period to optimize results.
A Mini Abdominoplasty may be recommended if all the stomach fullness is at or below the belly button and the candidate is within 15-20 pounds of their ideal weight. This mini tummy tuck tightens the lower abdominal wall skin only, and produces the shortest scar of Abdominoplasty procedures. With this outpatient surgery, most normal activities may be resumed within one week, with a return to sports activities within 4-6 weeks.
A Standard or Extended Abdominoplasty requires an incision between the pubic hairline and navel. Through the incision, weakened abdominal muscles are repaired and excess fat, tissue, and skin is removed. The procedure is outpatient, but the operative time and recovery period is longer than with the Mini Abdominoplasty.

Spider Vein Treatments
Stop covering your legs with pants and long skirts and remove those spider veins with our advanced laser technology. Spider veins on the legs or on the nose or face will disappear with these treatments.
Spider veins are superficial veins that have become permanently dilated. They may appear in a linear, branch-like, or cartwheel (spider) shape. Without treatment, spider veins are permanent. Many women must choose their wardrobe – pants and long skirts – to hide unsightly spider veins.
There are two common methods used to treat spider veins in the legs: Sclerotherapy and Laser therapy (or a combination of both). Sclerotherapy is the method of injecting sclerosing solution into each affected vein, causing the vein to collapse and fade from view. No anesthesia is needed and each session (two or more are usually required) lasts less than an hour. Laser therapy is the use of an intense beam of light that is directed at the smaller caliber spider veins. Most patients need several 30-minute sessions to achieve desired results. Both Sclerotherapy and laser treatments are performed in the office.
Recovery from each spider vein treatment session takes approximately one month. Normal activity may be slightly modified as healing takes place.

Tattoos have become quite popular and common in our culture. Likewise there is now an increase in tattoo removal. While men or women getting a tattoo may not think they will someday want it removed, they often discover that circumstances change. A tattoo enjoyed in the past may not fit with today’s goals, aspirations, and career choices. Or a personal relationship ends, but the tattoo related to a once special person remains.
Thanks to the advent of laser technology, tattoo removal can be achieved. Dr. Passmore uses the FDA approved Versapulse C laser which allows the removal of both single-color and multi-color tattoos. With this new technology, there is little risk of scarring. The removal of multi-colored tattoos requires up to 10 treatments (depending on size and type of ink) at intervals of 4 to 6 weeks. Single-color tattoos, depending on their location, often require fewer treatments. Patients have described the removal process as feeling similar to multiple “pops” with a rubber band. Tattoo removal interferes very little with normal activities, although the area being treated should be protected from the sun until it is healed.

Excessive Perspiration (Axillary Hyperhidrosis)
Sweating is a natural, necessary part of our anatomical make-up that enables our body to cool itself. But excessive sweating – not necessarily related to exertion, temperature, or emotion – indicates a condition known as hyperhidrosis. Hyperhidrosis can occur anywhere there are sweat glands including the palms of the hands, soles of the feet, face, trunk, and underarms. This condition causes embarrassment and misery.
The cause is unknown, but now there is help for axillary (underarm) hyperhidrosis: BOTOX® Cosmetic injections. The injections are administered locally (under the arms) with an ultra-thin needle. After one full week, patients experience the full effect of the treatment and can expect – on average – six months of dryness. As a board-certified Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Passmore is a knowledgeable and experienced injector of BOTOX® Cosmetic.
